Walk the Walk - March 28, 2009

Walk the Walk celebrated its one year anniversary on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the 4 Walls Galleries in North Park. The event stayed true to its original format, hosting a variety of local bands, entertainment acts, DJs and artists. Sight and Sound regulars recognized DJ Johnny Tran and visual projection artist Kris Baldwin, who are as much a part of the event as the complimentary drink before 8:30 p.m. In addition to live art by Brent Tilton, the event hosted San Diego’s own The Burning of Rome, a self-described “happy nightmare rock” band. Local legend Gregory Page, Di Nigunim and The Brothers Nazrat were a few others musical acts that rounded out the night.

Many guests were awestruck by the acrobats and juggling from Pickles the Gorilla, while others were mesmerized by Fire Fairy, a hypnotic fire spinner. The event also gave gallery-goers the opportunity to unleash their inner rave kid with booty-shaking dance rock from Knives!, an unstoppable act that forces you to dance. House of Blues contributed to the event with free tickets to some of their events to lucky participants.

Sight and Sound is a monthly event that was adopted by Adam Rosen and Jon Block in March 2008. More than a year later, the two have helped reshape the art scene in San Diego, attracting much-deserved attention to local artists, bands and acts. Tickets to Walk the Walk’s Sight and Sound event are $5, with all proceeds benefitting Autism research.
